Senior Night

There are many milestones in life, some more momentous than others. In the scheme of things, I don't suppose high school soccer games are all that momentous and honestly I have always told the boys that very thing. Ya know, to keep them focused on the "Big Picture". But last Friday night was Mason's last home soccer game and it was Senior Night (It was also "Pack the Bleachers" night so there were 2 or 3 extra people there). So it was a memorable milestone. We had to do the whole escort your son onto the field thing while the principal read a bio of them. Luckily, even with "Pack the Bleachers" night, they weren't packed so I made it through only slightly mortified at the picture taking. Of the boys in this picture, all but 2 of them have played together since they were 8 years old.
German, Brandon, Darryl, Dustin, Rey, Garrett, Antonio, and Mason.
They played Abliene Wylie, who until earlier in the season we had never beaten. Thankfully, we beat them again that night, 1 to 0. As always Mason and Dan played really well. They both had several shots on goal that just missed. Some people from the ward and several of Jerry's friends came to watch so it was really a good time. Oh, and I yelled! Right from the start and then worried about it all night. Mason was also named in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram as the leading scorer in the entire state of Texas. He has 5 more than the guy in 2nd. He and German are tied at 2nd for assists in the state. Coach Wright was qouted in the Stephenville paper saying Daniel is "A heck of a Sophmore". They play Tuesday, March the 23rd in Witchita Falls in the playoffs. I'm debating the yelling thing at this next game. I'm not sure it is worth the post game anxiety. Go Jackets!
